Cashmerette Montrose

I’m thrilled to have been able to make this Montrose top by Cashmerette! They have recently expanded their pattern to up to size 30 which makes it inclusive of even more folks. I’m also happy to say I’ve waited a LONG time to share this with you. And that’s ok! Because Cashmerette took their time releasing this with the new 0-30 size range so that everything would be just right!

Cashmerette gave this pattern to me free but my opinion is my own.

For some reason the Montrose was not a pattern I have made before! I set to work making a muslin version from some rayon challis a friend gifted me (below) and as soon as I put the finished top on I wondered where it had been all my life!

It’s a pretty simple, beginner friendly woven pattern with bust darts and neckline binding. There is a small gather on the back yoke, and those are basically the only intermediate techniques you’d need.

The fit for me is WONDERFUL. I blended to a larger size at the hip so that I’d continue to have ease there. That’s the only adjustment I made.

I made this out of a GLORIOUS rayon challis from Screech Owl Fabrics. It is soft and full of drape and was just stable enough to be very easy to work with. Hopefully you can see the drape in these cheesy videos I made. 🤣🤣

I’ve now worn my Montrose with this pencil skirt and boots, with my wide Calder trousers and with skinny jeans. It’s a super versatile staple top! It can be made with shorter sleeves or a different neckline and loop closure which is great for sheer fabrics.

Thanks so much to Cashmerette Patterns and Screech Owl Fabrics!
